The isisaurus is a sauropod that, at 18m long, is relatively small for its clade.<\/strong> From the few bones that we have, we know that it was odd in other ways, too. The possible hyaena posture attracted me to the creature, and I speculate that it used its thick, powerful neck in a manner similar to a giraffe, as display or outright dueling with rivals.<\/p>\n

This model is about 45cm long, making it about 1:40 scale. It\u2019s made of polyclay, aluminum wire &\u00a0foil, and a piece of 2\u00d74.<\/p>\n

I find the bamboo\/aluminum armature design to be really great for this kind of thing; the bamboo is thermoplastic, so you can get it to shape easily, but\u00a0then it holds its shape. The aluminum bends easily enough to reposition joints at whim.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
