Adam, a Klezmer from Dream Apart

This is Adam. It’s Rosh Chodesh, the festival of the new moon, and they’ve just wandered into the town synagogue of Shibenoye, a little town near the Crimean Peninsula. They’ve got a balalaika on their back, a song on their tongue, kavanah in their heart.

I suspect they’ll leave with a normally-mortal wound in their back, having allowed no one to see under their tongue, and a trail of broken hearts.

Adam is a character from Dream Apart, half of Avery Alder and Benjamin Rosenberg’s project, Dream Askew//Dream Apart, for which I wrote a short piece of fiction featuring Adam.

I’m really excited to see the final game!

What are wandering musicians like in The Fifth World? They exist right on the edge of society, both desired and despised, tricksters who poke officious authority in the eye and don't usually have to suffer the consequences of a society that has lost its authority.
