Robert Bohl and I Talk About Science Fiction on the Jank Cast

Todd at the Jank Cast interviewed Rob and me a week ago, talking about science fiction. It’s a fun discussion! We talk about politics and how they’re expressed both in larger SF and our games, we talk about sociology, and we talk abut Punk music.

Give it a listen!

  1. Funny comment about SF games. Very interesting point about Blue Planet too! 🙂 (considered one of the best hard SF games by some friends of mine). I´m also curious about Misspent Youth, it will be my next reading after Human Contact…

  2. Which comment about SF games is funny? I made comments about SF games for 90 minutes, barely giving anyone else a chance to say anything!

I was listening to a game of Blue Planet at a con recently. It seemed to be about grenades. The guy who ran it and the two guys who were playing *all* bought Shock: though, so I think they had some pretty broad tastes.

Misspent Youth is great! Go download it immediately!

  3. It takes guts to say something like: most SF RPGs are D&D in space (with lasers). I think this criticism is great and funny to listen to. That puts some things about SF games in a perspective that I really enjoy. The stuff about humanity in cyberpunk is awesome too: do we become less human without an eye or arm? Can cybernetic prostetics make us less humans? Great!

  4. It doesn’t take guts to say something obviously true that benefits me to say! What’s gonna happen — is someone going to ask me to back it up? Cuz that’s not very hard!
